Nwoya Football Mini-League 2025

Black Tiger FC and Elephant Queens Crowned Champions at 2025 Nwoya Football Mini-League Grand Finale

Nwoya, October 11st, 2025 - Elephant Queens has emerged victorious in the women’s league, while Black Tiger FC claimed the men’s league title after a thrilling final match against Libson United FC at the grand finale of the Annual Nwoya Football Mini-League, held today at Anaka Primary School playground.

Both teams were awarded trophies, cash prizes, and sports regalia, marking their first-ever championship win in the Mini-League. Their triumph also secures them a spot in the national league under the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).

This year’s tournament brought together 24 football clubs, including 8 women’s teams, from all sub-counties in Nwoya District. The league has grown into a vibrant platform for talent discovery, youth empowerment, and community unity, with several players now progressing into FUFA-affiliated professional clubs.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Mr. Godfrey Lukwago, Stakeholder Engagement Manager at TotalEnergies EP Uganda, said “Congratulations to the winners for their outstanding display of energy, skill, and sportsmanship. We also applaud all participants for their passionate and committed performances. As a Company, we take pride in supporting this tournament, which serves as a valuable platform for nurturing talent, promoting inclusivity, and creating opportunities for young people; especially women to thrive through sport.”

He added, “We are deeply proud of the growing participation of women in football. Through this annual tournament, we’re not only promoting sportsmanship and youth development, but we’re also actively challenging gender norms and opening doors to new career pathways. Most importantly, this league continues to unite communities, foster inclusion, and celebrate the shared spirit of teamwork and resilience.”

In addition to the championship trophies and cash prizes, first and second runner-up teams and other outstanding participants received medals, sports regalia, and certificates. All participating teams were recognized with certificates of participation.

The Nwoya Football Mini-League is key to TotalEnergies EP Uganda’s commitment to Standing Together with its stakeholders. It aligns with the company’s CSR pillar on Youth Inclusion and Talent Development and supports UN Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Wellbeing.
