Employment & training

In collaboration with our contractors and subcontractors, we ensure that Ugandan citizens are given priority for employment in any petroleum activity and are trained while in employment to develop their competences to successfully execute their work. We take into consideration the promotion of participation of specific groups including women, persons with disabilities and persons from different geographical areas or ethnic backgrounds. We provide training through different means including: Technical training, On the job training, Internship attachments, Scholarships, among others.

Youth Inclusion and Education

Since the start of its operations in 2012, TotalEnergies EP Uganda has implemented various youth initiatives that have contributed to Uganda’s skills and labour pool as well as Government of Uganda’s education sector goals for capacity building and knowledge transfer. The initiatives are in line with the Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility pillar ‘Youth Inclusion and Education’ and the UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 on Quality Education.

Tilenga Academy Training Program

The Tilenga Academy training program aims to empower youth with skills and international certifications to work on the Tilenga project during its production phase. Selected candidates undergo 2.5 years of training at various locations, starting at the Uganda Petroleum Institute in Kigumba (UPIK), followed by international Oil and Gas training centers, and hands-on experience during the Tilenga project installation and commissioning.
