This bulletin provides an overview of the context of 
Livelihood Restoration in the Tilenga Project, delves 
into the purpose and objectives of Livelihood 
Restoration and provides an overview of the entire 
program and its various component programs. 

The Biodiversity Programme is the first of its kind for TotalEnergies and is guided by the laws of Uganda, TotalEnergies Biodiversity Ambition and international best practice guidelines, including International Finance Corporation Performance Standards on Environmental and Social Sustainability. 

TotalEnergies EP Uganda (TEP Uganda) is committed to being a responsible and sustainable business partner in Uganda’s oil and gas sector. Recognizing the crucial role of National NGOs in fostering inclusive and sustainable socio-economic development, we believe that collaboration with these organizations is key to creating shared value and positive impacts in the Tilenga project host communities and across the country. 

The Tilenga Land Acquisition process is guided by the Land Acquisition Resettlement Framework (LARF) and Resettlement Action Plans (RAPs), which were developed by the project Joint Venture Partners together with government and in consultation with NGOs, communities, and other key stakeholder within the sector.

As part of the land acquisition process, TEPU is conscious of its responsibility to restore or improve the livelihoods and standards of living of Project Affected Persons (PAPs) by focusing on re-establishing household food security & income.

As part of our operations in Uganda, we are committed to achieving our National Content ambition which is maximizing the participation of Ugandan individuals and businesses in our activities as well as building capacity where gaps exist. TEPU also recognizes the importance of empowering local communities and building a sustainable future for Uganda's oil and gas sector.

Following positive feedback on the first pilot edition of Let’s Talk! we continue our initiative aimed at providing information to CSOs and NGOs on thematic topics relating to the oil & gas industry, for instance environment, social and human rights matters.

TotalEnergies EP Uganda has put in place rigorous processes aimed at providing guidance and standards for improving and sustaining road safety. We aim to be a benchmark for road safety standards and expectations within Uganda.

This Let’s Talk! bulletin is a pilot initiative which is aimed at providing information to Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) on thematic topics relating to the oil & gas industry, for instance environment, social and human rights matters.
