In collaboration with our contractors and subcontractors, TotalEnergies EP Uganda undertakes activities and mechanisms aimed at maximizing knowledge and skills transfer to the Government of Uganda, registered entities, Ugandan companies and Ugandan citizens, including, but not limited to-
- Holding quarterly supplier development workshops to educate Ugandan citizens and companies about the procurement process, requirements, performance standards and lessons from previous bidding processes.
- Encouraging and facilitating the formation of joint ventures and partnerships.
- The establishment of management and technical capabilities in Uganda such as;.
- The Industry Enhancement Center (IEC) through which Ugandan companies are being supported to participate in the supply of goods & services by developing their capabilities to effectively respond to business opportunities in the Oil & Gas sector.
- Support of local institutions in Uganda by providing knowledge and technology.
- Internships and attachment of Ugandan citizens in petroleum activities, mentorships and scholarships.
- Local supplier development programs aimed at building capacity at the community level
- The establishment or upgrading of any necessary facilities for technical, vocational or commercial work and technology transfer.
- Skilling & Technical training initiatives including Training & certification of Ugandan companies and citizens in Health Safety and Environment, Scaffolding, Welding, HGV Driving etc.
Important to note is that a lot of these initiatives are delivered by Ugandan companies/providers which in turn contributes to National Content.
