3rd Total Mini league football competition kicks off in Buliisa

The third Total E&P Uganda mini league football competition has today kicked-off in Buliisa district with eight football clubs competing for the league title. These teams were selected out of 33 clubs that participated in the qualifier games played in Ngwedo and Kigwera sub counties.

The kick-off ceremony was presided over by Buliisa district LC5 chairman, Simon Agaba Kinene at Ndandamire primary school playgrounds in Kigwera Sub County. The games will be played for three weeks culminating in a finals game to be played on 26 November 2016 at Ndandamire Primary School. The winning team will receive a trophy and prizes such as a bull and AWANGO by Total solar lights while all the participating teams will receive a full set of jerseys with socks and footballs.

Speaking at the kick-off ceremony on behalf of the General Manager, Amos Mwase, the RSES of Total E&P Uganda, welcomed the guests and expressed Total’s delight at the level of sportsmanship exhibited during the games over the past three years. “On behalf of Total E&P Uganda, I would like to welcome you all to the third Total Buliisa Mini-league. At Total, it has been humbling to witness how over the past three years, this mini-league has fostered the spirit of sportsmanship as well as promoted a good relationship between the Buliisa community and us.”

The eight teams participating in the 2016 Total mini football league in Buliisa include: Total E&P Uganda, Kibambura FC, Kilyango FC, Masaka FC, Nile United FC, Kiyere FC and Avogera FC.

As part of the competition activities, the company has also rehabilitated the football pitches at Uduk 1 community play grounds and Kirama Primary School in addition to distributing 1500 school bags to pupils at the two primary schools.

The matches are to be officiated by referees from the Buliisa District Football Association.
